UDC win Round 2 of REACH data incubator

The future data economy will be built upon carefully assembled data value chains, where organisations share data with each other across existing silos with the purpose of creating new value for themselves and for society at large.

The REACH data incubator is a European support programme focused on breaking such “data silos” in order to facilitate the development of trusted and secure innovative solutions based on industrial and personal data.

Urban Data Collective was one of 125 startups from across Europe that applied to round 2 of this programme during spring 2022 and was selected for further support. In a previous post, we already shared our journey of making it into the last phase of the programme as one of 5 finalists.

For the last 2 months we have had opportunities to work together with our excellent programme mentors to further enhance the market readiness of our “Cities In Charge” MVP that we previously developed as part of the programme.

This included the successful completion of pilots with Surrey County Council, exposure opportunities at trade events such as the Smart Cities Expo World Congress In Barcelona and the AI and Big Data Expo, as well as investment showcases such as Invest@20 organized by the Setsquared partnership.

Our year ended on a high as we managed to beat off a tough competition of established startups to become overall winner of this REACH incubation round.

This is testament to the hard work of our team and great mentorship that we have received as part of the REACH programme.

We are super proud of this achievement and hope to take this moment into the new year and to enable more local authorities in the UK and across Europe to benefit from the “Cities In Charge” solution that we have developed.
